While it’s difficult to assess just how much long-term impact your choices will have, that’s kind of irrelevant. There’s a bar that gives you limited time to choose what to say or do, which puts pressure on you to think on your feet, maintains a realistic dialogue flow, and makes you feel actively involved in the story playing out. While the decisions may not feel that significant on paper – like choosing whether or not to tell someone your name or whether you should fire your lone bullet when an opportunity arises – it’s the context that makes them impactful. Following the same lines as other recent Telltale titles, player choice is at its core. That’s not to say that the game is without tension, however. The humour is perfectly pitched through both dialogue and presentation, so be sure to examine every item you can so you won’t miss any little jokes. There are moments like this throughout – another where Rhys unveils his heroic plan (visually enacted for the player), only to realise no-one is listening by the end is another highlight. One of my favourite moments here comes when Rhys attempts to stealthily kill a guard, only to fail and leave the guard mockingly unimpressed. They’ve done so incredibly well, but it’s great to see them return to something that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Telltale’s roots lie in comedy, but their recent output has seen them tackle more serious and dramatic source material. The pair come from different backgrounds and bicker, but as they recount their tales it’s obvious that there’s a (reluctant) friendship forming between them. Rhys might claim that he gave a rousing and heart-felt speech, but Fiona corrects him by pointing out that he was begging on his knees. The game is told from each of their perspectives, although they do overlap at points, leading to a lot of humour coming from their unreliable narration. Besides, considering some of the other rogues you’ll encounter, the protagonists are positive saints in comparison. In theory, neither of the two scheming leads should be likeable, but their charm and wit shine through their underhanded deeds. Needless to say, Fiona becomes entangled in the plot arranged by Rhys, though to detail any more than that would spoil one of the many twists and turns throughout the story – let’s just say things don’t go according to plan, for either of them. She and her sister Sasha began stealing from a young age to get by and have lived their whole lives as con artists, raised by the older, wiser Felix (a man they once tried, but failed, to steal from). Inhabiting Pandora is the second protagonist, a fraudster by the name of Fiona. This deal takes place on the bleak and desolate world of Pandora, a kind of sci-fi Wild West crawling with dangerous people and creatures. Rhys, along with his pal Vaughn, plot to get Vasquez back by intercepting a lucrative business transaction. On his way to receive a promotion, Rhys finds that the former boss has been unceremoniously ‘dismissed’ by his arch nemesis Vasquez, who then promptly screws Rhys over by reducing him to a janitorial position. The company and its employees have a reputation for being ruthless, which is made very clear from the offset. The first is Rhys, a young man who works for weapons manufacturer Hyperion. In Tales from the Borderlands, you alternately take control of two characters. They have a knack for creating relatable, human characters that you genuinely care about and have an interest in guiding through the extraordinary situations they encounter. Although this universe was established by another developer, Telltale manages to put their own unique mark on it, much like they did with The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. ![]() While this is much more an interactive story than a traditional puzzle- and exploration-based adventure, right off the bat the first episode, Zer0 Sum, made me feel fully invested in this world and the characters that inhabit it. As such, when Telltale announced an episodic adventure based on the franchise, I wondered whether a story-driven game based on a shooter could really work. Apart from the appealing cel shaded aesthetic, there wasn’t much else that took my fancy and I left the game unfinished. ![]() Not being a huge fan of first-person shooters, I played the first half of the original Borderlands when it was released and got some enjoyment from it, but most of that came from playing multiplayer with my friends. 11/10/2022 0 Comments Rechargeable lithium batteries![]() Below 0 ☌, charging is impractical, as metallic lithium can electroplate at the negative electrode, causing major damage or even short circuiting the cell. Lithium batteries don’t appreciate being taken down below freezing, particularly when they’re already fully charged. Ambient temperatures also play a big role in battery performance. It’s important not to charge lithium cells too quickly. Each cell in a pack must also be kept at the same voltage as its neighbors, to avoid cells getting damaged prematurely. #Rechargeable lithium batteries fullOvercharging cells causes damage to the anode by lithium plating out of solution, creating lithium dendrites, often leading to a short circuit or full thermal runaway of the battery, leading to a release of smoke and flames. Discharging cells below their low voltage limit leads to the formation of copper dendrites, which can reduce cell capacity or short circuit them entirely. Moreso than most battery types, lithium cells are not tolerant of mistreatment. Respect The Limits Get it wrong, and results can be intense. They’re generally more stable, with lower rates of self-discharge and capacity loss over time. This, combined with a very flat discharge voltage curve, makes them ideal replacements for 12V lead-acid batteries in many applications, where four cells substitute for the original six. They operate ideally between 3.0V-3.65V, instead of the more typical 3.0-4.2V range of a standard lithium-ion chemistry. Lithium-Iron-Phosphate, or LiFePO 4 batteries are an altered lithium-ion chemistry, which offers the benefits of withstanding more charge/discharge cycles, while losing some energy density in the tradeoff. This extra voltage provides up to a 10% gain in energy density over conventional lithium polymer batteries. However, by using this additive, cells can be charged to 4.35V without exhibiting these negative effects. When charged above 4.2V, most lithium batteries exhibit significant capacity loss and reduced lifespan. Lithium-HV, or High Voltage Lithium are lithium polymer batteries that use a special silicon-graphene additive on the positive terminal, which resists damage at higher voltages. Lithium-polymer pouch packs, designed for RC use. They’re also commonly used in radio-control models, where their lightweight construction is a huge benefit for flying vehicles. This flexibility of design makes lithium-polymer batteries useful in applications like smartphones and tablets, where a high-capacity battery is needed and a flat form factor is desirable. ![]() This enables the construction of pouch cells with different geometries. Lithium-Polymer, or Li-Po refers to a lithium-ion battery that uses a polymer electrolyte instead of a liquid electrolyte. ![]() Their stout casings make these cells popular for rough-and-tumble vehicle use. The venerable 18650 is one such cell, but a large variety of sizes and types exist. Lithium-ion, or Li-ion typically refers to the overarching technology of rechargeable lithium batteries, but also specifically refers to the traditional cells built in cylindrical metal bodies. Packs like these are normally spot welded together with nickel strips. 18650 lithium-ion cells as found in a laptop battery. In order to treat your batteries properly, it’s important to know what you’ve got, so paying attention to this is critical. This has led to a proliferation of different technologies and types of battery, depending on construction and materials used. With the first commercial lithium-ion battery entering the market in 1991, the (nearly) 30 years since have seen rapid development. ![]() #Rechargeable lithium batteries how toThere are some considerations one must make in their use however, so read on for a primer on how to properly use LiPos in your project! So Many Types! Thankfully, over time, technology has improved, and in 2020, we’re blessed with capable, high-power lithium polymer batteries that can provide all the power your mobile project could possibly need.
